having an honest conversation and making sure that they actually get down to brass tax as opposed to the thousands upon thousands of ads we've been showered with here in the state over the past year. that's really, at the end of the day, what people are looking for, real solutions, ideas and how do we get that back to the state of the country. >> you don't want to hear zingers? >> it's fun for me, i'm a radio talk show host but for voters they're looking for mitt romney to be tough, for the president to be tough. i think at the end of the day they want solutions. >> recent poll shows president obama up a stun ing stunning 15. is that what you're seeing and hearing on the show? >> not really. our guest yesterday was blunt and called it garbage. when you're talking about that kind of poll, we call it an outlyer here in new hampshire, 15-point lead for the president is pretty obscure. it's much, much closer than that, much closer to the four to seven points that the president has been ahead since the convention. >> high profile, viral videos in roent weeks, one featuring mitt romney

in into record deficits is because we put two wars and two tax cuts on a credit card. we didn't pay for. and now mr. romney wants another $5 trillion in tax cuts that he can't pay for. we're not going to let that happen. we are not going to fall backward, not with so much at stake, not now. it didn't work then. it won't work now. and that's why i'm running for a second term as president of the united states. i will tell you, i'll tell you what we need to move forward. we got to invest in small business. we got to invest in manufacturers creating jobs here in ohio, here in the united states of america. we have got to recruit 100,000 new math and science teachers to train to make sure our young people have -- to make sure our young people have the skills that they need. we got to train 2 million workers at community colleges to bring down college tuition cost s. we got to cut our oil imports in half and create thousands of new jobs and energy. we got to use the savings from ending the war in iraq and afghanistan, to pay down our deficit. put some people to work, doing some nation building right he

, the president's approach is attractive to people who are not paying taxes because, frankly, my discussion about lowering taxes isn't as attractive to them. therefore i'm not likely to draw them into my campaign. >> but last night, romney had a complete about face. now he is denouncing that remark all together. >> clearly in a campaign with hundreds, if not thousands of speeches and question and answer sessns, now and then you're going to say something that doesn't come out right. in this case i said something that's just completely wrong. i absolutely believe, however, that my life has shown that i care about 100%. and that's been demonstrated throughout my life. and this whole campaign is about the 100%. when i become president, it will be about helping the 100%. >> cnn political editor paul steinhauser joins me now in washington. romney chose to clarify his remark on fox. no accident there perhaps. >> he was doing an interview there last night with his running mate, paul ryan. i think what you heard last night was the answer mitt romney would have given in the presidential debate wednesday ni

, a subaru. i"i'm not in favor of a a$5 trillion tax cut. that's not my plan." mitchell: "the nonpartisan tax policy center concluded that mitt romney's tax plan would cost $4.8 trillion over 10 years." vo: why won't romney level with us about his tax plan, which gives the wealthy huge new tax breaks? because according to experts, he'd have to raise taxes on the middle class - or increase the deficit to pay for it. if we can't trust him here... how could we ever trust him here? >>> less than a month away now before election day. and how can we forget political ads, they remind us each and evy hour on the hour what is happening now. with barack obama and mitt romney had to spend hundreds of millions of dollars to define themselves for us while, of course, vilifying the other. that's why when i draw your attention to this documentary, that airs tomorrow night, on pbs, it is from the folks who bring us front line. here is just a preview. >> i got my start as a community organizer. >> i know how the private sector works. i know how jobs come. i know how they go. >> for years, these two men have b

going to cut income tax rates by 20% to make up the difference by eliminating deductions in credit. is he going to get into some of these details here about how this is all going to shake out? anna, start with you. >> you know, suzanne, i don't know how much time is loued in the debate to go into real detail of a plan. certainly you can't go into detail about 59 points, but dow hope he chooses two, three, four points to really focus on, make the sale. this is his strength. it should be something that he is able to sell well. more than four million jobs have been added back into the economy since he took office. you got growth. it's been stuck at 1%, which really is pretty disastrous for a recovery. what does he have to say to convince voters that, you know what, stick with me, stick with my plan? >> well, first of all, i don't think 90 minutes is long enough for mitt romney to explain his 59-point plan. or if i can figure out if it adds up and not add up to the federal deficit. i think president obama needs to make his points very clear and concise and not try to give us too many s
